The museum was opened in 2003 by the Fountain Hills Historical Society and strives to educate visitors about the various peoples of the Lower Verde River Valley, with a specific focus on the Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation and the Verde community. The River of Time Museum is an archaeological and anthropological museum that showcases the civic and social history of the Fountain Hills region, from its indigenous roots through the present day.
